Homework is an important tool we use to extend learning and practice skills independently. Thank you for checking in with your child and promoting the importance of homework.
HOMEWORK POLICY
Due Date: Unless otherwise stated, homework is due at the beginning of the day. Word Study Homework is due on Friday morning. If it is handed in at any other time, it is considered late. No excuses will be accepted without a note from a parent or guardian.
Absences: Work collected on a day that a student is absent is due the day the student returns to class. The student will have one to two days to make up the work missed while he/she was absent. It is expected that a student or his/her family will make arrangements to get assignments during an extended absence and return them to school in a timely manner.
PLEASE do not send your child to school sick! Your child will have time to get caught up when he/she returns.
Late Work: Students who do not have homework completed when the assignment is due will be assigned to stay in from recess to get caught up and risk losing further privileges. The teacher will keep a record of ungraded assignments not completed in a timely manner and will contact parents as necessary. This will also effect the teacher’s comments on report cards and progress reports concerning work habits, etc. as well as the students final grades. Points will be deducted for late homework or homework that is not turned in. Homework will be a part of the students final grades. Please keep communicating with your child about their work.
Grades: Students will be evaluated in class from tests, quizzes, labs, homework, effort, group work, projects, presentations, journal entries, etc.
